Awarded to ADF by SNC-Lavalin/Hatch, this contract included the engineering, fabrication and installation work of the steel structures for two new electrolysis halls, each 2,470 feet (830 metres) long, which house the new pots.
The expansion made Aluminerie Alouette the largest smelter plant in North America, with a production of 550,000 tons per year. The contract also included the expansion of the two existing halls which gained an extra 210 feet (70 meters) each.
