9,700 tons
This prestigious contract offered complex geometry challenges and rigorous architectural specifications. Over 9,700 tons of steel were needed to complete this project covering 495,000 square feet (46,875 square meters), and which included two main performing halls linked by a pedestrian bridge.
Seen as one of the major cultural and artistic centers in the United States, its Concert Hall is supported by 14 main trusses weighing 40 tons each, and the Ballet Hall is centered around 18 trusses of 65 tons each.
The structural steel portion of the project was completed in the Fall of 2004,
and the important miscellaneous metal works required by the buildings style
will be completed in the Spring of 2006.
